Winter Beauty Survival Kit

WINTERMAKEUP3

Is the Kingston winter getting under your skin? The bitter winds, harsh indoor heating, and freezing temperatures can really suck the life out of skin if you don’t take extra caution. But don’t fret! Here are some of my favourite beauty products for staying gorgeous in the polar vortex this season! The Ultimate Moisturizer Reduce flakes and blotchy skin with an effective and calming moisturizer, like the Avène Skin Recovery Cream (one of my fave skincare lines from France!) I do not exaggerate when I say that this lotion has saved my face on multiple occasions when the winter winds have gotten the best of it. It soothes and moisturizes skin overnight without causing breakouts. Magical.Where to Buy: Avene USA and Shoppers Drug Mart Tinted MoisturizerTo even out your skin tone without emphasizing any dry skin flakes, opt for a tinted moisturizer or a BB/CC cream. These products have more benefits (such as moisturizers and SPF) for your skin than traditional foundation, and will keep you looking fresh all day. My favourite is the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. It’s a bit pricey, but completely worth it because it will literally last you forever.Where to Buy: Sephora Beauty OilThough I questioned the idea of putting oil on my face, hopping onto the beauty oil craze is proving to be worth it, especially in the wintertime. A few drops are all you need and it’s not greasy at all! Pat some on before bed for seriously soft and glowing skin in the morning. I’ve been using the Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil, which contains anti-aging botanicals that provide serious hydration and protection against free radical damage.Where to Buy: Sephora Hair TreatmentKeep the frizz and split ends at bay by protecting your hair with hair oil after showering. My favourite is the L’Oreal Eversleek Precious Oil Treatment. It’s super affordable and keeps my mane manageable, static free, and soft throughout the winter months!Where to Buy: Target

Body Scrub/MoisturizerDon’t forget about dat bod, which tends to get scaly and reptile-like in the winter. Use a gently sugar scrub to get rid of dead skin and replenish your skin with moisture. My favourite is The Body Shop Shea Butter Scrub, which smells delicious and actually melts into your skin. Use a body butter as well while you’re at it, to keep your skin supple and soft. The Body Shop is my go-to for rejuvenating body butters.Where to Buy: The Body Shop Lip Balm/Tinted Lip BalmNo one wants to pucker up to dry lips. For those who prefer simplicity, the Rosebud Perfume Co. lip balms will get the job done, and are staples that I always come back to in times of seriously chapped lips (it also doubles as a cuticle cream!) As well, they have many great flavours to choose from (minted rose, rose, mint, and strawberry). For those who prefer some colour on their lips throughout the day, opt for hydrating lip colour balms. I really like the Clinique Chubby Sticks, they're so cute and functional!Where to Buy: Sephora and The Bay Hand Cream There is nothing more unpleasant than a pair of dry, cracked hands, which unfortunately are rampant in the winter. Save your paws by carrying a hand cream around in your bag so you can use it wherever you are. My faves are the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream and the Avène Cold Cream Hand Cream.Where to Buy: Shoppers Drug Mart
