How To: Wear Metallics
A How To by Sophie:
With the holidays fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about holiday trends. My favorite at the moment? Metallic! When done right, metallics are so cool. I know that incorporating look-at-me trends into your wardrobe can seem daunting, so my approach is to start small. Whether it be a chunky metallic necklace over a casual t-shirt, or adding some cool metallic flats to a pair of ripped jeans, playing it a little bit safe with metallics makes them wearable and practical. Here’s my advice for starting small with metallic:Pump Up Your Kicks: I am in love with these metallic loafers from Nasty Gal (pictured below). In fact, I just bought a pair for myself and they arrived in the mail today. I am so obsessed! Pair them with leathery black pants, a black top, a statement necklace, a chunky bag… and there’s your outfit for the day! It’s All In The Bag: It can super fun to experiment with metallic bags, and the beauty is that they go with just about anything! You can go full out metallic like this clutch, or you can tone it down a little bit with something like this cross-body from Botnik!

The only advice that I have when it comes to metallic tops is to keep them loose. An overly tight metallic top can easily look trashy rather than trendy. Keep the top loose (but not too baggy) so that it looks chic!

Since metallic pants are already a statement on their own, try pairing them with neutral solids. Black especially makes the pants pop and keeps them cool and edgy without looking gaudy.
