Summer is finally here! The heat rays and constant sunshine are all the more reason to call up your mates, whip up some chips and dip and throw a party! It doesn’t matter what you choose to do: throw a barbecue on the beach, host a hang out by the pool , or even celebrate your graduation; any event accompanied by the perfect playlist will be hit! So here are some tips on how to master the Ultimate Party Playlist that’ll surely have you rocking the casbah.1. A key way of nailing the perfect playlist is having a range of music that caters to a lot of different audiences. Don’t be afraid to mix songs that really don’t seem like they go together. DJ Girl Talk is proof that combining opposing artists can make for the sickest mixes (I mean Black Sabbath v.s. Tupac?). So go ahead and play "Red Mercedes" (Aminé) right after "Hunter" (Pharrell Williams). No one will expect it and it’s a really fun way to change up the pace and mood. Just don’t make it too shrill- we want people dropping because they’re tired from dancing not because they’ve just had heart attacks.2. As much as 2017 has produced some of the baddest hits this summer, you don’t want to turn your playlist into 104.5 or top 40. Choose a couple of your favourite radio hits and the songs you know everyone will be waiting to hear. Maybe you can’t live without putting Drake’s "Madiba Riddim" on your playlist but don’t bog it down with mainly More Life because believe it or not, sometimes less is more.3.Take things back to the old rock anthems of the 80’s and 90’s R&B favourites that had people singing at the top of their lungs and (literally) rocking their socks off. Some of my most memorable party memories are of the ones my parents threw when I was younger. Many of the their all time favourite hits are still popular amongst younger crowds now. Some fail proof party songs are "Give It To Me Baby" by Rick James and "Rebel Rebel" by David Bowie. Mix those in with current music and you’ve got a concoction that’ll be sure to make both your parents and your guests proud.So there you have it! Go forth and create your own Ultimate Party Playlist.
