How To: Study in Style

A How-To by Sophie:It’s that time of the year again: midterms. It seems so tempting to wake up in the morning and just slide on a pair of sweats and an old t-shirt—with bed head in full effect and bags under your eyes, no less. But please people, I beg of you: REFRAIN! I am here to help. Now, I can completely relate to the desire for wearing sweats and hoodies – especially around exam time. I cannot focus in the library or in class unless I am comfy and cozy.  But I can assure you that there is a way out of the land of the sweats; there are so many other (cute) solutions for dressing comfortably. Here are a few of my favorite ways to stay cozy in the library without sacrificing style:Skinnies: I know that jeans aren’t always the stand out option when getting dressed for the library. But I promise you that when you find the right pair, they will completely change your life and redefine the word “comfortable.” My best advice for jeans is to look for a pair that have just enough stretch, but not too much! You want them to be comfy, but you definitely want there to be some substantial jean material in there. I swear by this pair of Rag and Bone jeans (pictured below). I’m not going to lie, I think I wear them almost every day to class (shhh… don’t tell!) They have the perfect amount of stretch, and the material is freakishly soft. They’re almost jegging-like, but they don’t give you that tacky “hermetically sealed to you’re body” type of look. Check them out!Boyfriend jeans: Another awesome way to stay comfy in denim. The slouchy style is cool and comfy at the same time – what more could a stylish and studious girl ask for? I am totally obsessed with these One Teaspoon baggies (pictured below). My housemate owns a pair and I am stealing them ASAP. Keep in mind that they’re an Australian brand, so the sizing is a little bit weird. My advice: they run really small, so buy a size bigger than usual!Leather Leggings: They feel like sweatpants, but they make your butt look better! What’s not to love right!? When you want to add a little bit of chic to your typical legging, go for a pair with cool, leather detailing. Throw these on with a cute knit, a scarf, moto boots and you’re good to go. The library won’t know what hit it.Essential extras: soft, cozy knits, moto boots, scarves & beanies.librarylook  Tobi leather leggings, Nasty Gal moto boots, Rag and Bone denim skinnies, Wilfred Free scarf, Top Shop jumper, One Teaspoon boyfriend jeans & Top Shop beanie.

Swap that cool jacket for a cardigan and a backpack, and you’re library ready.MIDDLE: I’m obsessed with these moto boots- they add the finishing touch to this all black outfit. The slouchy sweater gives it a relaxed feel.

Not Your Mother's Dry Shampoo and Bobbi Brown Concealer

LEFT:  Dry shampoo is a hair savior. Forgetting to shower happens to all of us, but dry shampoo saves your hair from that greasy shine. I love this brand and it works really well! You just spray it on and go! If you cant find it at the drugstore or Urban Outfitters (where I got mine), baby powder always works too. Sprinkle some on the roots of your hair, shake your hair around a little bit and that annoying grease will be all gone.

RIGHT: I swear by Bobbi Brown’s under-eye brightener. Keep some in your backpack and you’ll never look tired again!

HAPPY STUDYING!
