MUSE Loves: VCFS

TOP TEN REASONS TO SEE VCFS 2015 1.THE CHARITY: 1All of the proceeds from the show and our social events go directly to our charity, Jack.org. Jack.org is a Queen’s University homegrown initiative and was founded in 2010 as the legacy of Jack Windeler, a student at Queen’s University who tragically took his own life. This charitable organization focuses on bringing forward the sensitive topic of mental health, encouraging students to take care of themselves and their peers. With a focus on youth, Jack.org hopes to save and improve lives through a reduction in youth suicide and increased well-being of Canada’s young people. Many people have been affected by mental health, making it essential that every person feels that they have support from their university and peers; we must shatter the stigma surrounding mental illness. This cause has become especially dear to the students of Queen’s University, and the initiation of the Bounce Back program in 2013 proved to be very successful, particularly in regard to first year students. 2.THE THEME:11001892_727415994024136_3273264740509447720_nThis year’s theme, The Revival, features a sequential look at the history of art. Six dominant and influential periods of art will be represented, including Renaissance, the Rococo, Impressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, Pop Art, and Expressionism. Travel through the progression of fashion in some of history’s most distinct eras! 3.THE BADER:3Home to Queen’s University’s creative arts community, the new Isabel Bader Centre is absolutely stunning. Situated on the shores of Lake Ontario, the view and architecture of the building are a must see. The performance hall boasts state of the art acoustics and sounds, as well as a perfect view from every seat. As Queen’s University’s newest building, every student should experience a performance in this architectural beauty. 4.THE CAST & CREW:1972487_554414547990949_50066776_nAs an entirely student run organization, from brainstorming to execution the final show is one hundred percent a demonstration of the hard work and dedication that the Vogue cast and crew commit themselves to for the entire year. Every year Vogue looks for around 150 students to join their family, including dancers, models, designers, singers, artists, and student leaders. Odds are, you know someone involved in the show! What’s a better way to support them than by attending the show itself? 5.THE AUCTION:5Score some sweet deals on some awesome clothes and accessories featured in the three-day silent auction at the show. With the often limited fashion choices found in Kingston, the silent auction will be a refreshing and exciting breath of fresh air! Daniel Wellington watches, Tilo scarves, Moksha and Apex memberships, certificates to the Diva Salon, and The Bay gift baskets are only some of the items you can find at this year’s auction. 6. THE DANCERS:10968355_717346051697797_4766113451495594360_nThis year’s show will have 15 dance numbers, ranging from lyrical to hip hop (and all that would rival Beyoncé’s moves). With 55 of Queen’s University’s finest dancers, these moves will have you rethinking your go-to stage rage breakdown. 7.THE MODELS:10968478_721114794654256_9157496334848074503_nThe models for 2015 are FIERCE .
