As the weather gets colder it’s not hard to fall into the pattern of wearing the same old hoodie and track pant combo everyday.  I mean it’s comfortable, it’ll keep you warm on those -10 days, and you don’t have to think about it too much... but who said that comfort can’t also be stylish? Well I’m here to provide you with some tips that’ll help to maintain your personal style through the colder months ahead!

Do not underestimate the power of layering.

December is about the time that people succumb to the reality that winter is indeed upon us. Whether you like it or not, it’s time to break out the winter wear. But this does not mean you have to say farewell to all your summer pieces. Instead of tucking away that print tee why not layer it over top of a turtleneck or blouse? Play around with patterns, ruffled sleeves, and high necks to make sure you’re layering piece doesn’t get lost under the thrifty goodness that is a classic slogan tee. Pairs those two together and boom! You’ve got a combo that’ll keep you warm and will allow you to utilize more of your closet throughout the winter months.

A Canadian must have!

Some say there’s not point in putting any effort in the winter when you’re going to cover it with a huge parka but I say your winter coat is the perfect opportunity to kick things up a notch! There are so many options for coats out there. Long-line coats are perfect for head to toe coverage, shearling, and borg jackets are both cozy and supper stylish, and fur lined aviators are just the right amount of biker chic and can keep you bundled up.

Knits, knits, knits!

There is nothing like a chunky knit to get you through a cold winter day. Whether you’re holding up at home marathoning Friends for the fifth time in a row or running around campus handing in last minute assignment, chunky knits are the way to go. Change up the knit pattern; go for something oversized, and always remembering the chunkier the better!

So, just because the weather is getting cold and gloomy doesn’t mean that your outfits have to! So as the days turn shorter and a little frostier remember to pull out all the stops when getting dressed.
