After a summer full of glow, illumination, and so many insane product releases we’re all thinking there’s no possible way that Fall could beat this Summer’s make-up trends. Well think again! After Fashion Month, we saw the introduction of some beautiful new beauty trends that I know I’m dying to try. Along with these hot new trends, our favourite make-up brands have released brand new launches of products and collections that are perfect for the transition from summer looks to fall.Personally, I think Fall Fashion Week for 2017 has been one of the best yet for beauty. We are so used to the high fashion look, where less is more and the natural look is what’s ‘in’ but this year’s Fall trends point in a new and fun direction, experimenting with bold colours and styles. This post will be about new trends we’ve seen on the runway, and next week we'll be letting you know what beauty products to invest in to get the looks yourself!

BOTTOM HEAVY LASHES

Chanel, Giorgio Armani, and Jeremy Scott are a few of the designers we have to thank for this refreshing new trend. I remember the days when I refused to even wear a LITTLE mascara on my lower lash line because I thought it made me look weird. Well, now I can’t even imagine not wearing mascara on the bottom because it'd feel so bare and unfinished. Now there are two ways one can follow this trend: you can go dramatic like the top left picture and bottom right OR you can go for a more soft but still bold lower lash line like the bottom left and middle top row. Both are beautiful in their own unique ways, allowing us to spice up what can be a very Plain-Jane make-up kind of day. There’s nothing wrong with standing out if you feel comfortable, and I challenge each and every one of you to step outside your comfort zone and try something that you would love to try, but think you could never pull off.

PASTEL PIGMENTS

FINALLY WE HAVE SOME COLOUR PEOPLE!!! As an aspiring make-up artist don’t get me wrong, I love a beautiful basic glam with the simple light smoky eye, light contour, and glow. But, that can get repetitive and boring and I LOVE to mix things up and pop some colour in here and there and LOOK. HOW. BEAUTIFUL. IT. LOOKS.!?!? Emilio Pucci, and Zadig & Voltaire absolutely smashed it this year on the runway introducing this trend. Just one simple pigment popped on the eyelid and it looks so lovely. Yellow, orange, blue, lilac I am just screaming at these colours. BABES! Please do not be afraid of going past the basic browns, blacks and even light pinks because colour is your friend! Colour is the friend that pulls you out of bed when you’ve told yourself you aren’t going out. Colour is that pizza slice you promised yourself you wouldn’t eat on that rough day you were having. It’s scary at first and you’re hesitant to try it but PLEASE do. I don’t know about all of you but I much prefer my world in colour rather than black or white.

NOT-SO-BASIC BLACK EYES

We all love a simple black liner. It’s the classic look, the easy way to make an eye pop, and the simplest accessory to a basic look. We can do a wing; no wing; cat eye; Egyptian thick-lined; and many more but all have run a little on the basic side. Now this is definitely a look that is more out there and not meant for the ever-day sort of work/school day BUT for an event, photoshoot, fundraiser, or themed party this not-so-basic liner look is so fun! Balmain, Ellie Saab, YSL, and Chloe all premiered this look in their Fall runway collections this year adding another doable and fun trend into this year’s Fall beauty repertoire.

SNOGGED LIPS

Now to be honest, this is definitely a trend that I can’t imagine will actually turn into a wearable look BUT it is pretty cool to see on the runway. Snogged Lips (using an English term for kissing) is a trend where lipstick is purposely smudged for a look to look like you have been making out with someone. Would I wear this? I’d be lying if I said I haven’t worn this before, not on purpose I’d like to add, but definitely have no intention of wearing it again anytime soon in public. There is a level of admiration and appreciation that I have for the brands Gypsy Sport Public School for generating such a unique look. The top right is particularly beautiful, with a cherry red glossy look achieving a swollen, fairy-like vibe.

COLOUR BLOCKED LIDS

Picture1The second trend we see in Fall 2017’s fashion week that involves COLOUR! Colour-blocked lids are a true art form. The blending of the yellow and blue, yellow and green, and orange white and blue compliment each other in ways that remind us of colourful Island birds or flowers. The theme for these blocked lids is almost tropical, something I’m sure we can all agree is hard to hate. You can go all out like the middle top level picture with a straight edge blocked lid OR for a more blended look like the bottom left or right where the colours merge into each other to create a seamless finish. Yellow, blue, orange, green, purple were popular colours at Oscar de La Renta and House of Holland to create these looks, again creating an admiration for the boldness demonstrated by these famous powerhouse designers.
