leaving is hard 

Leaving is always hard; 

Because while it’s inevitable,  it never forewarns.

Leaving  sneaks up on you like a snake slithering in the grass or the deadline of that assignment.

Leaving  sucks;

Because it means that what happened was temporary, and all that’s left is you.

Leaving  means that  you might forget, even what you swore would never be forgotten.

Leaving  itself  is quick:

The packing of boxes, the final embrace, the kiss goodbye, the last toast.

But leaving  has to happen;

Because without leaving, there can be no beginning.

Beginnings that make leaving so hard once again.

Saying goodbye may feel impossible, but it isn’t;  

Because with every goodbye comes a new hello and that hello may be even better than the last.
