Belle & Sebastian Wanna Dance
Indie Music Lovers RejoiceBelle and Sebastian, the groovy indie pop group, is dropping their first new album since 2010 this month, and I’m sure they will not disappoint. Led by guitarist, and vocalist Stuart Murdoch, based out of Glasgow, Scotland, the band first shared their distinct music with the world in 1996.Murdoch recruited the 6 members of his band by simply ‘going with his gut’, and picking strangers from a local café. They began performing their new music in quirky venues, such as libraries and coffee shops. The band self-released their first album “Tigermilk” in May of 1996 and only distributed it on vinyl, they quickly became the new sensation all over England. It wasn’t long before the group’s tracks were reaching the tops of Billboards all over the UK and USA.Murdoch’s imagination has never failed to surprise listeners. With each song wonderfully different from the next, it makes it hard to even put this group under the category of a certain genre. Their new album, “Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance”, comes out on January 20th, 2015, and Murdoch says his goal with this album is to make the songs more ‘danceable’ (hence the name). The group even extended their world tour this year that kicks off in New Zealand on the 26th of January.Whether you’re a long-time fan of Belle and Sebastian, you want something for a late night drive, or they pump you up for your pre-game on a Friday night, their new album is sure to speak to every type of audience out there.
