This article is the first installment of a very exciting project the MUSE Music team has decided to take on titled Jack's Music Corner! This series will be spearheaded by Online Music Contributor Jack Selby and is meant to share some of his most recent and favourite music finds. Enjoy!

Bando Diaries by dutchavelli

This is some classic UK drill. I found the original song from a teaser video for a remix of the song. I will say the remix is pretty good and includes drill artists from Australia, Albania and India but the original just hits so much better.

Mood by 24KGoldn ft. iann dior

I’m sure a lot of people have heard this song before, but I just can’t get enough. Even though I don’t think there will ever be a song that will bring the hype that Mo Bamba brought to parties during my first year at Queens, I think that if COVID had never happened 24kGoldn and iann dior might’ve given Sheck Wes a run for his money.

3. Groupies by PyrothePoet

If life has taught me anything, it’s that my YouTube recommended section is the most interesting place on the Internet. The music video for ‘Soldiers At War’ by Pyro popped into my recommendations one day introducing me to her. I have yet to be disappointed since going through her YouTube channel, but this is by far one of my favourites.

4. Red by BBY KODIE ft. Lil Yachty20-year-old BBY KODIE is on track to become the next big artist out of Houston. Hailing from a city with such a deep rap history and immense talent, BBY KODIE has managed to stand out. He makes heat party music and Red isn’t an exception. On this track, BBY KODIE and Yachty combine great energy and flow with one of my favourite beats of the year.

P.I.S.T.O.L.A. by Pistola

I love this song so much. It’s fun, it’s not serious and it’s hard. It just checks the right boxes for me, and the chorus is so infectious you’ll have it stuck in your head for days.

Chronic Saver by A.Leech

Leech has been an artist on my radar for a while and have watched him grow as not just a musician but as an artist. This is particularly evident with his self-directed music videos and YouTube shorts. The production on ‘Chronic Saver’ is probably my favourite part of the track. All the sounds blend really nicely and create the perfect atmosphere to the whole track, especially alongside Leech’s pitched-down vocals.

Next Bar by bike stu

Coming straight out of the Kingston student area, bike stu holds a dear spot in my heart. Not just because the boys have made some fun music for summer nights but because I’ve got to see them improve from their first demos to the first song they put out. I highly recommend you add this song to your pre-game rotation.

Ride the O by Edot Babyy

One of the youngest names in the New York drill scene, Edot Babyy is already sounding better than other artists several years older. “Ride the O” is definitely one of his best and I think it’s only up from here - for Edot especially as the New York drill wave keeps going.

Dragonball Durag REMIX by Thundercat ft. Smino & Guapdad 3000

I included Thundercat’s album It Is What It Is in my quarantine catch-up article and with every listen of the album Dragonball Durag remained the standout for me and the addition of Smino and Guapdad makes the track even better. A surprising addition to the original, their verses fit the vibe perfectly.

Sniff by JD & Domi

I first heard about JD and Domi from a KennyBeats Twitch stream where they raided Kenny’s studio. After settling down and cracking some jokes, Kenny got them to perform and I have to say I was blown away. Both of them are musical savants in their own right. JD kills the drums while Domi can glide over the keys. Sadly, they don’t have any official releases on streaming services yet, but they have a number of live performances uploaded to YouTube that you should watch and a project on the way.

ZZZ by Milkavelli & LiL Peep

A nice mellow bop from UK artist Milkavelli and the late LiL Peep. The track was originally released just a few days before Peep, unfortunately, passed away due to an overdose which gives this track a surreal feeling especially with Lil Peep’s lines about self-medicating.

hand crushed by mallet by 100 gecs

100 gecs makes weird music but it’s always good. “hand crushed by mallet” is hard to put in a category for me. It mixes pop, electronic, and hip-hop elements throughout their songs and I would definitely recommend “hand crushed by mallet” as a good starting point for the rest of their music.

Backhand by HVN ft. TisaKorean

Probably one of my favourites from this whole list, ‘Backhand’ just goes hard and the beat drop gives me chills. It gets me jumping every time I listen and I wish it was on more people’s rotations.
