Netflix Shows for Every Mood

Ah, Fall. The time of year when we can comfortably binge-watch Netflix under the glow of strategically-placed Christmas lights that make our rooms so cozy. The time of year when we can stop going out and spend our free time in our sweats and favourite hoodies instead. Sometimes, picking a new show to binge-watch is too overwhelming. To make your Fall Netflix days as easy as possible, here are some shows to watch based on how you’re feeling. A Netflix mood-ring if you will.

If You’re Feeling Romantic

How I Met Your Mother

giphy (4)I’ve watched this series nine times now, and even though I know almost every line of every episode, I fall in love with the characters every time they say them. Ted’s relentless search for the girl of his dreams makes you think that maybe chivalry isn’t dead, it’s just somewhere else looking for its yellow umbrella.

If You Need Background Noise

F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

giphy (3)I’m either laughing or crying when I watch this show. It’s a great option for when you don’t feel like paying close attention to anything, but still want something to do. Let’s be real, who DOESN’T want to take the iconic milkshake picture with their squad.

If You Need a Good Laugh

Community

giphy (1)Unfortunately, not every season of Community is on the Netflix, but four out of six ain’t bad. Everything that comes out of Jeff’s mouth is sarcastic, there is the occasional musical number, and Troy and Abed are definitely #BFFGoals. Just a warning though, the first episode is awful.

If You Need a Good Cry

Skins

giphy (2)This is one of the most underrated shows on Netflix. Hands down. Each episode is an emotional rollercoaster that leaves you drained in all the right ways. I can guarantee that you will get as attached to the characters as I did.

If You’re Feeling Spooky but Not Too Spooky

Supernatural

200A perfect balance of dark humour and scary stories. You will definitely need to watch this one from the very beginning. Oh, and at some point you’ll find yourself singing classic rock and wanting an Impala.

If You’re Feeling Very Spooky

Stranger Things

BvaAHzSA crowd favourite. With an amazing cast and storyline, Stranger Things is definitely binge-watching worthy. If you’re not into scary things, you may need someone to hold your hand while you watch it.

If You Want Twists and Turns

13 Reasons Why

13-Reasons-Why-GIFsEven if you’ve read the book, this show will keep you guessing. The integration of a very interesting plot with characters who are very real, makes 13 Reasons Why a good choice. My only disclaimer is that this show contains very sensitive subject matter. In my personal experience it was a bit overwhelming to watch more than a few episodes at once.

If You Miss Home

Gilmore Girls

gilmore girlsThis show is a commitment that is totally worth it. I feel like I grew up in Stars Hollow with Rory and the rest of the cast. This show is a perfect feel-good watch. The only problem is that every time I finish watching it, I NEED a cup of coffee. BRB - starting a petition to get Queen’s a Luke’s Diner.

If You Really Want to Watch American Horror Story but Only Have Canadian Netflix

Scream Queens

giphyA bit more on the comedic side, but still contains enough gore to make up for the fact that we can no longer fake having an American browser. RIP Hola.

If You’re Feeling Yourself

Ru Paul’s Drag Race

ru paulI thrive when I watch this show. It always brings a smile to my face and there’s no way you won’t want to lip sync for your life after watching it. Incredibly extra, but totally worth it.
