Fall Style Guide

It is officially fall!Even though the last thing any student wants to do is to sit in class all day, the one prospect that gives the fall semester a little bit of hope is fall fashion. As a student, I know how precious time can be with our busy schedules. Accordingly, here are five easy autumn looks to inspire you this season— all styled around a plain white t-shirt.1. Oversized fuzzy cardiganAn oversized sweater is a fall essential. The weather here in Kingston can get so bitterly cold that I sometimes wish I could go to school rolled up in my duvet. Unfortunately, showing up to class in my bed covers is not socially acceptable (yet…), so the next best thing is to wrap myself up in its clothing equivalent. The oversized cardigan has a very laid-back feel to it, so I kept it simple with a pair of black jeans and boots, accessorized with a wide brim hat.IMG_37102. Jogger style sweatpantYou have an 8:30 start, only got four hours of sleep, and the thought of having to squeeze into skinny jeans physically hurts. Thankfully, we can now rock sweatpants with no shame. I like wearing sweatpants with a tapered ankle to stray away from the traditional sweatpant fit. Paired with a pair of sneakers and a baseball cap, you’ve got a sporty chic, yet comfortable — and I mean extremely comfortable — look. Perfect for Club Stauff!IMG_3809 copy copy3. The Little Black BootieEvery girl needs a pair of black booties in her wardrobe. They’re great because of their versatility and comfort, and I styled them here with a pair of faux leather pants and a tuxedo vest. I like to wear mine on nights out because the block heel gives me just the right amount of height where I can still walk around and dance comfortably. However, they can most definitely be dressed down as well with a pair of jeans for more of an everyday look.IMG_39054. Fre$h kicksSneakers have been the ultimate craze this past spring and summer, and boy am I glad they are staying for the fall. Who needs heels when you can dance all day long in sneakers? Of course, as students who walk around a lot from class to class, the comfort level of these shoes is another definite perk. Try subbing in a pair of sneakers instead of reaching for your go-to flats to add a bit of cool to your outfit.IMG_4556 copy5. Distressed denimDistressed denim is the perfect way to add some edge to a look. I love contrasting ripped jeans with something a little more feminine, like a pointed heel bootie. The great thing about distressed denim is that the more you wear it, the better it gets!
