Music Monday: January Current Events

MUSIC MONDAY: CURRENT EVENTS - 2015 EDITIONbHappy New Year Friends!I hope you have all had a restful holiday season and a decent first week back! This week I decided to bring in some big hitters that are predicted to be making a big impact in 2015. Start listening to them now so you can tell your friends “you heard it first”.VALLIS ALPS - YOUNGPerfect for starting the New Year, Canberra duo Vallis Alps has released their new self-titled EP and it is dreamy. Full of hope and an almost shy and euphoric sound, their leading track “Young” was the highlight of the EP and well worth a listen.Listen to the EP here10904228_10155034825025322_1632375586_nPicture: VALLIS ALPS FB PAGEDONNIE TRUMPET & THE SOCIAL EXPERIMENT – SUNDAY CANDYChance the Rapper and his new band The Social Experiment are releasing an album titled Surf and one of the first tracks released from “Surf” is this fun tune “Sunday Candy”. Featuring amazing vocals by Jamila Woods and a huge collaboration by the band and their friends – if this is any indication of what the album will be like, you can sign us up. Ps. The icing on the cake? They released a documentary titled SoX Day and it is as cool as you would expect from these guys. Check out Sunday Candy and the link to SoX Day below: SoX DaySunday Candy10921850_10155034824650322_1909989564_nPICTURE: DONNIE TRUMPET’S SOUNDCLOUDKANYE WEST – ONLY ONE feat Paul McCartneyKanye subtly dropped this track right at the beginning of 2015 and it features THE Paul McCartney on the keys. Simple and beautiful the tune is touching because it is West channeling his late mother, Donda speaking to Nori, her granddaughter that she never got to meet. Love him or hate him – Kanye sure knows how to pull on those heartstrings.Listen to Only One here10933156_10155034825310322_992456816_nPICTURE: StereogumMISUN – PENNYPredicted to become a huge deal in 2015, LA trio Misun released their debut album “Superstitions” in early November 2014 and I have been listening to them all the way through to the new year. Their sound is retro with the best kind of twist. “Penny” reminds us of the 60’s and lead singer, Misun Wojcik has a voice reminiscent of some of the greats. If these guys become regulars on the radio there won’t be any complaints coming from me.Buy their album Superstitions on ITunes and listen to “Penny” here10264763_10155034824895322_787744597_nPICTURE: MISUN SOUNDCLOUDYours Creatively,Tiffany Tang, Music EditorGraphic: Tiffany Tang
