Plant Based Never Tasted So Good

Copper Branch is not your average quick biterestaurant. Sure, most restaurants are slowly easing into the idea that thefood industry is one of the most pertinent factors in climate change, perhapsby introducing the Beyond Meat burger, or not offering plastic straws. However, the Copper Branch’s very ethos is providing healthy and delicious food whilealso using sustainability and eco friendly methods, ingredients, andpractices.

Copper Branch is an internationalfranchise, with locations in Canada, the United States, France, and Belgium, and with all stores specializing in providing healthy plant based power foods. The story behind the company is one of honesty and simplicity; the founder, after suffering from years of health problems and weight gain, decided to leavebehind working in the fast food industry and instead provide healthy, nourishing, accessible, and sustainably sourced food. There are many locationsthroughout Canada, however this is Kingston’s first Copper Branch store, located on 268 Princess St.

Copper Branch is nextlevel in their dedication to the environment, most notably by only using plantbased products, among other things. Their menu has a variety of options, andalso provides gluten free options (a consideration that can sometimes bedifficult to come across when living on campus), with the most beloved menu itembeing power bowls.

While eating out at aplace that has higher end ingredients may seem daunting to your wallet, CopperBranch has a rewards program. All you need to do is sign up for the rewardsprogram, and you can use your rewards card on every purchase to earn pointstowards obtaining a free meal. For every dollar spent you receive 20 points, and for every 1,000 points earned you gain a dollar back in credit. The RewardsCard program is a testament to Copper Branch’s mission to make healthy foodaccessible and sustainable; in addition to other aspects of the company’scommitment to the environment, a portion of the funds acquired by the purchasesmade on a Rewards Card goes to the Rainforest Trust.

The Rainforest Trust isan international organization that saves ecosystems, land, and endangeredspecies; over the past 30 years they have saved approximately 23 and a halfmillion acres of important land. While the Rainforest Trust is supported byCopper Branch through the Rewards program, Copper Branch also supports amultitude of partnerships for a variety of uses. For example, the foodsupplement brand Garden of Life is one of the store’s “Power Partners” acting asa provider for some of Copper Branch’s ingredients.

Copper Branch deserves our attention, specifically as a resource for the conscious consumer to use when looking at where to get food in Kingston (or other parts of Canada, the US, Belgium, or France for that matter).
